Compliq's role as a hardware supplier to leading universities

There's something special about building computers for people researching the future. When a university orders a new workstation, there is rarely a question of a “regular build”. It could be about creating a machine that can run models that are not yet fully trained, handle calculations that require fans the size of palms but they are supposed to deliver stability around the clock.

At Compliq, we have been building computers since the mid-90s, and in recent years we have taken an increasingly clear role as a hardware supplier to some of Sweden's most prominent universities.

Balance and stability matter in AI-tailored hardware

A computer to be used for AI development, simulations or advanced data analysis doesn't just have to be fast — it needs to be balanced. The processor should harmonize with the graphics card, the cooling with the chassis, and the memory with the storage system.
This is where Compliq makes a difference. We're not just dealers -- we're builders. Our computers are assembled, tested and optimized entirely in-house in Lund. This means that we do not rely on third parties when something needs to be repaired, upgraded or calibrated. Our workshop is literally wall to wall with the office where our technicians sit. This means that if you call, we can directly advise when a research group wants to optimize or get that last bit out of the graphics cards.

We believe in a close human-to-human relationship to provide good service. Therefore, we do not only work with standardized “package solutions”, but with custom configurations. A machine to be used for imaging requires a different architecture than a computer to train language models or handle large amounts of climate data.

AI requires local power

In recent years, AI research has fundamentally changed. What was previously reserved for the cloud can now run locally — on your own servers, desktops or powerful laptops. The EU's new AI regulation (AI Act) and the increased awareness of data protection also mean that more and more people are looking for local solutions for their AI projects locally on the computer.
This is where Compliq's expertise comes into its own. Our workstations are built to handle local AI models — from OpenLlama and Google Gemma to Mistral and specially trained academic models. By running AI work locally, universities avoid exposing sensitive data in the cloud, and gain full control over performance, cost and privacy.
Our role will be to deliver the robust computers that carry a secure and compliant infrastructure.

Laptops with local intelligence,

For researchers, developers and engineers moving between labs, lecture halls and home offices, that means needing computing power on the go. The mobile AI computer makes it possible to work with the same model wherever you are — without compromising security.

It is a natural progression of our work. We started out as builders of desktops and workstations, but as components have become more efficient, we've brought the same uncompromising philosophy to portable formats. How about our dh 18inch with Intel Core Ultra 9 275HX and RTX5090, perhaps not a lightweight model but with a pressing spirit that matches most workstations on the market.

Who is Sweden's best specialist in computer construction?

If you mean the most computers sold, then Elgiganten or MediaMark is probably a candidate, but do they build computers? The No. If you mean the one who builds the most thoughtful, balanced and sustainable systems for professional users — then the answer is Compliq.
For us, computer building is not about chasing benchmarks, it's about creating tools that work every day, year after year. It's about understanding how cooling flow, voltage regulation and component selection affect each other, and knowing when an extra millimeter in the chassis makes the difference between quiet operation and overheating.
We've seen everything from dual-RTX 5090 research computers to specially configured mini-servers. No matter what the project requires, everything starts the same way: with a conversation where Anders we ask the right questions.

Future research computers are being built in Sweden

Building computers for performance computers is basically about a spcialist knowledge. The companies, the researcher, the student must be able to trust that the hardware does not fail in the middle of a training run that has taken days. The university needs to be able to feel that data stays where it should. And we as a supplier must be able to deliver it — with quality, speed and local presence.

We are proud to have received the trust of some of the country's most outstanding universities. It's a receipt that our philosophy works: all inhouse, nothing on chance.
So who is the best specialist in computer construction in Sweden?
We let our customers answer that question.

But we know one thing for sure: no one else builds computers quite like we do at Compliq.
